Mummy Self Care Routine | Blogtober Day 1

I have decided to join in with Blogtober this year (I’ll try and keep up anyway!) and our first prompt is…

Rather than list facts about myself, which I’m sure nobody is interested in 😂, I thought I’d give you an insight into my life by sharing 3 things I enjoy doing to chill out. Us mummies need to practice self care as often as we can!

One of my absolute favourite things to do is watch mummy vloggers on YouTube (my top 3 current faves are Katie: Mummy Daddy Me, Charlie: Mummy in the Know and Rebecca: Mrs Meldrum/The Meldrums).

However, I was finding that I struggled to find the time to watch them, until I bought my new wireless headphones from Aldi! Now it’s so easy to catch up with my fave vloggers – watching them on my iPad in bed without worrying that I am disturbing my partner/little girl! Problem solved ✅

The second thing is to have a candle lit bubble bath 🛀

Before having Jessie, I would have a nice long soak most nights of the week and think nothing of it. Now just getting a quick 10 minutes feels like such a luxury! In fact writing this blog post has made me decide that I must set aside one night every week to do this 👍🏻 Light some candles, put on some relaxing music

At the moment I have been loving the dupe Jo Malone candles from Aldi 💛

And finally the last thing which completely chills me out is a bit of yoga and meditation. Again, before having Jessie I would go to yoga classes once a week, which is a luxury I can no longer afford (in time or money!). But I have found some great yoga routines on the wonderful world of You Tube! My favourites are Sarah Beth Yoga and Yoga with Adriene .

They have playlists by length of routine, so even if I only have 10 minutes spare, I can manage to fit in a quick session! I always feel so good afterwards and I aim to do this every morning.

Does anybody else do yoga in their pjs?! And then get disrupted by a little monkey? 🐒 If, like me, you are into all this mindfulness meditation stuff, you will no doubt have heard of the Headspace app. Again this is something that only takes 10 minutes and the more you get into it, the easier it becomes. I love how relaxed I feel after emptying my mind and everything just seems so much calmer. It is a great way to start the day, or wind down before bed.

So there you have it! I hope this post has given you a reminder to look after yourself, whilst giving you a bit of insight into my life.

What do you do to look after yourself and relax? Are you looking after yourself enough? If not, make the time now and make yourself a priority– that is an order!

I’d love to hear from you in the comments, and thank you for reading 😊

  1. Oooh I need me some of those headphones. I’m so stressed out at the moment and really don’t look after myself. Everyone else comes 1st!! This must change!! Thanks so much for the tips. #Blogtober17

  2. Welcome to #Blogtober17, love the different take on day 1! I have to confess I don’t make any time for myself, life is just too hectic with the seven and someone always wants something! I shall try to find at least a little time for myself soon!
