Although I’m from Blackpool, I don’t think I’ve ever actually visited Coral Island before and I most definitely haven’t taken Jessie – goodness knows why as it is Blackpool’s largest free admission attraction, located right on the sea front and is the perfect way to entertain the kids for a few hours (especially when the weather is not so good!).
When we first arrived, Jessie was delighted to see these Toy Story 4 photo boards…
And even made Mummy have her photo taken too 🙄…
Before quickly begging to have her photo taken with Iggle Piggle 😂
There were lots of these types of rides, which if you have a toddler you will most probably agree that it’s their dream when Mummy for once actually says “Yes you can go on the ride!”.
Whenever I see these little rides outside the supermarkets I always say no, but today I had set myself a budget for them and her little face lit up so much that it was definitely worth the money!
Speaking of rides, Jessie absolutely loved driving her bus on this train ride… which went surprisingly fast!
And was in her absolute element on the Pirate Flyer which is a monorail giving you a birds eye view round the whole arcade.
There is also a Ghost Train, however I thought we’d save this one for when Jessie is a little bit older after reading North East Family Fun’s blog post who said it was a little bit scary!
Next up, we had some fun on the Camel Derby! Jessie was just a little bit too young to understand what was happening but enjoyed throwing the balls regardless, however it brought out the competitive side in me and I could have stayed playing it for ages!
I’ve not mentioned the staff yet but everyone we came across was so lovely and the man running the derby even took pity on Jessie and gave her a cuddly unicorn 🦄 which obviously went down very well! 😊
Of course you can’t visit an amusement arcade without having a go on the slot machines! I gave Jessie a big tub of 2ps which kept her entertained for ages and she was super excited when she won a unicorn key ring 🥰
I also thought it was good practice for her fine motor skills, putting the pennies in the slot 🤷🏻♀️🤣
We also had a go on the VR games (which by the way are so clever, how do they work?!), air hockey, bowling and also had a photo shoot in the photo booth!
And after all that playing we had built up quite an appetite so went for some food. One great thing about Coral Island is that kids eat FREE all day, every day at all their restaurants! We went to the Fish & Chip shop but they also have The Buccaneer Family Bar & Restaurant, Captain Jack’s Bar & Grill and Peggy’s Family Snack Bar.
The fish and chips were yummy, Jessie loved her sausage and chips and as mentioned before the staff were so helpful… the man who served me could see I had my hands full so carried our food over to the table for us.
After that we took our tickets and cashed them in for prizes. I let Jessie choose whatever she wanted and as you can see she was over the moon! She could have got one decent prize but instead opted for lots of little things… don’t ask me what they are but if she’s happy then I’m happy!
So if you’re looking for a way to keep the kids entertained for a few hours, save up your 2ps, set a budget for the rides and remember kids eat free at Coral Island Blackpool! Oh and don’t forget to get a photo on the giant deck chair!
